Discover Kusadasi
Kusadasi is one of the best-known holiday towns on the Aegean coast. With its cruise port, marina and long seafront it stays busy all summer, and its closeness to Ephesus makes it a good base for exploring the region.
Things to see in Kusadasi
- Pigeon Island (Guvercinada): The symbol of the town: a small island linked to the shore by a causeway, crowned by a castle and circled by a seafront path that is perfect for a sunset walk.
- Old town and caravanserai: The narrow streets of old Kusadasi and the Ottoman-era Okuz Mehmet Pasha Caravanserai are right next to the harbour.
- Ladies Beach (Kadinlar Denizi): One of the most popular beaches, south of the town centre, lined with hotels, cafes and restaurants.
- Marina and cruise port: Among the busiest cruise ports in Turkey; most cruise passengers set off from here to visit Ephesus.
- Ephesus: The ancient city, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is about 20 kilometres from Kusadasi.
- Dilek Peninsula National Park: Entered from Guzelcamli, the park has clear coves and walking trails through the forest. The cool water of the Cave of Zeus, near the park entrance, draws visitors in summer.
- Ferry to Samos: In summer, ferries sail from Kusadasi harbour to the Greek island of Samos; you will need your passport and, depending on your nationality, a visa.

Travel tips
On days when cruise ships are in port, and on summer evenings, traffic in town can be heavy, so allow extra time to reach the bus station. Seats fill up early in summer, so we recommend booking ahead. If you plan to visit Ephesus, going early in the morning avoids both the heat and the crowds; in the evening, Bar Street and the harbour area are at their liveliest.
